Manchester chiropractic care helps control chronic back pain that causes pain beyond the back and into life that prevents sufferers from enjoying their lives.

Back pain patients come to Manchester Chiropractic & Sports Injuries with all different types issues. Some walk better than others. Some have better muscles than others. Some are more prone to depression than others. Your Manchester chiropractor understands this and joins each back pain patient where s/he is and assesses each patient to discover the difference(s) that make all the difference when designing a relieving chiropractic treatment plan. Assessments like the 6-minute walk test that measures the distance walked in 6 minutes and the TUG (‘time up to go’ from a seated position) test can be quite educational about cardiovascular and musculoskeletal health in degenerative lumbar spine patients. Both may be affected by back pain. (1) Back muscles that turn weak and fatty (like the multifidus muscle tends to do) signify issues with inflammatory and regeneration processes. (Back surgeons do not like this as a inferior surgical outcome is possible.) (2) Chiropractors get this and encourage gentle exercise for these back muscles as a component of the treatment plan to prevent recurrent back pain that a few lumbar disc degeneration patients experience. A new study explained that those who tend to get recurrent back pain were shown to move differently, more guardedly, likely to avoid pain. Recurrent back pain patients also experienced higher levels of anxiety, depression, and disability as well as a reduced quality of life. (3) Your Manchester chiropractor welcomes all back pain sufferers with all their peculiarities. Your chiropractor partners with each one during the current back pain episode and beyond to control the back pain (physical, mental, and emotional features), so it does not control them.

Listen to this PODCAST with Dr. Nike Taylor on The Back Doctors Podcast with Dr. Michael Johnson on how she helps a chronic back pain patient dealing with a recurrent episode of back pain with the Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management to find relief and a sense of control over back pain to minimize recurrent back pain episodes as much as possible.

Chronic Manchester back pain may be helped by olfactory training which utilizes smelling scents to desensitize the sufferer to the pain.

Manchester CHIROPRACTIC TIP OF THE MONTH:

SNIFFING SCENTS TO LESSEN PAIN!

An interesting study of chronic low back pain patients found that odor-training helped decrease their pain thresholds. Regular exposure (every two hours in the research project) to scents like rose, vanilla, peach and chocolate – olfactory training! - helped ease pain. The researchers hinted that it may help reduce pain chronification and quite possibly control general pain via desensitization. (4) What an enjoyable adjunct this could be to the Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management! You may want to try smelling some good scents yourself!
