Manchester Chiropractic & Sports Injuries Knows Anatomy Well, Knows Your Spine Well
Your Manchester chiropractor knows your spine! Manchester Chiropractic & Sports Injuries knows anatomy. Back in chiropractic school, your chiropractor studied a lot about anatomy of the spine and utilizes that knowledge daily. Knowing the anatomy of the spine is continually at the forefront of your chiropractor’s mind as you and each spine pain, neck pain, back pain patient walks into the practice! It is so exciting! (Aren’t you happy someone finds it exciting?)
LEARNING ANATOMY IN SCHOOL
When we were in school, we were all guilty of learning just to pass a test. Going to professional school, such learning is more vital than ever since it will influence everyday work. (How much do you remember from your high school or college days?) An international survey of chiropractors and anatomists found that chiropractors thought that a higher level of anatomy teaching during chiropractic school was advantageous for clinical practice, permitting better understanding, application, and analysis of anatomical material to support a clinical decision in their daily clinical practice. (1) An Australian study of chiropractors compared their knowledge of anatomy to that of chiropractic students. The chiropractic practitioners rated their knowledge of anatomy and demonstrated it in a test showing their knowledge. This was compared to the equivalent in their chiropractic student counterparts. The chiropractors showed that they kept their knowledge of anatomy - and knew they did! – breaking the thought that chiropractic practitioners may not retain it after a period of time. Knowledge of anatomy is utilized every day in chiropractic practice, and chiropractors understand their anatomy. (2) Your Manchester chiropractor does! We’ll be happy to talk about it!
SPINAL ANATOMY KNOWLEDGE PUT TO USE IN CHIROPRACTIC CLINICAL PRACTICE
Applying spinal manipulation daily uses knowledge of the spine’s anatomy every day. The most common reasons people said they sought chiropractic care were low back pain (49.7%), neck pain (22.5%), and extremity issues (10.0%). The typical treatment they experienced were spinal manipulation (79.3%), soft tissue therapy (35.1%), and formal patient education (31.3%). (3) Spinal conditions receive a great deal of attention from chiropractic patients and their chiropractors, of course! But fortunate side effects of chiropractic care materialize in the medical literature as well like potential cardiovascular benefit. In a placebo-controlled, assessor-blinded, randomized trial, researchers reported on the immediate effects of upper thoracic spine manual therapy on cardiovascular autonomic control of patients with musculoskeletal pain (ie, back pain, spine pain, neck pain, etc.). The researchers explained that musculoskeletal pain intensified the risk of cardiovascular events. (4) Come feel these benefits of chiropractic treatment based on knowledge of the spine’s anatomy.
