Right leg. Left leg. Leg pain (aka sciatica) will affect either leg
(and sometimes both). Manchester chiropractic care at Manchester Chiropractic & Sports Injuries
helps decrease leg pain and focuses on
the spinal cause of the sciatica at the same time. Manchester Chiropractic & Sports Injuries leads
Manchester leg pain and back pain patients to pain relief with chiropractic care.
SCIATIC LEG PAIN: Right Leg or Left Leg
You have heard of right-handed people and left-handed
people, right? Sure! Did you know that the left leg grows longer in right-handed people and the right
leg grows longer in left-handed people? Not 100% of the time, but
research documents this differeence.
Bearing this in mind, it is not surprising that more
people have longer left legs (53%) than right
legs (39%). Incredibly, only 8% of people have equal
leg lengths. (1) What role does that play in
which leg will have sciatic leg pain? Discs will
bulge into the concavity of the curve owing to a variety
of issues like uneven stresses on the anulus of the disc. The
concavity of the spinal curve is on the long leg side. A right-handed person
with a long left leg will likely have left leg pain. Another curious point: hip pain often occurs
on the long leg side, too: 88.9% long leg versus 11.1% short leg.
Sciatica, too: 78.5% happens on the long
leg side vs 21.5% on the short leg side. (2,3) Your
Manchester chiropractor can see a short leg pretty
easily by examining three things: iliac
crest, the verticality of the spine, and levelness of the posterosuperior iliac
spine dimples. Researchers noted that there is a strong
relationship between visual and xray measurements. (4) Trust your Manchester
chiropractor to find a short leg…and address any related
disc herniation causes of pain!
DISC HERNIATION RE-ABSORPTION WITH NON-SURGICAL CARE
A new study reported on 75 cases of ruptured
lumbar disc herniation. 46 of the 75 cases had
leg pain radiculopathy: 46 cases on the left and 29 on
the right. (Makes sense now, right?)
At 5 years post- non-surgical treatment, a
“reabsorption” phenomenon was found. The excellent and good rate of disc reabsorption
was 73.24%. (5) Manchester Chiropractic & Sports Injuries provides pain easing
non-surgical care of Manchester leg pain and back pain.
RELIEF FOR Manchester LEG PAIN and BACK PAIN
And then remember the recent paper regarding
the benefits of chiropractic maintenance care: Maintenance care reduces
the number of painful days for acute back pain
episodes and raises the length of pain-free times
between recurrent back pain episodes of persistent back pain. (6) Manchester Chiropractic & Sports Injuries
is here for those back pain and leg pain patients looking
for fewer back and leg pain days and those who would like to live life with fewer periods
of leg and back pain.
