Back pain isn’t choosy. Back pain may
choose any of us at any time whether we are
stay-at-home people or out-in-the-world people, active
military people or veterans. The reputation of chiropractic for aiding back pain sufferers persists
and grows in the civilian and veteran/military
care systems. The more recent interest has been how
much chiropractic care is best for back pain relief.
Manchester Chiropractic & Sports Injuries keeps track of this research since
military/veteran back pain resembles our civilian
Manchester back pain!
BACK PAIN INCIDENCE
80% of us will get back pain at some time
in our lives, in our youth, middle years, or elder age. 264 million
work days were reportedly lost in one year because of back pain. (1) Manchester chiropractic care is made
to help all ages! Somewhere between 25 and 33% of older folks in fact
get low back pain each year. Low back pain for older adults is reported to be debilitating as it often limits their
independence and multiplies the number of doctor visits they
have. A study that combined chiropractic and primary care for their back pain brought
about modest improvements in their disability and back pain and higher patient satisfaction and perceived
improvement over just primary care. (2)
Manchester Chiropractic & Sports Injuries witnesses these same outcomes for our
Manchester back pain patients! Older patients with chronic low back
pain who also have other medical issues who employed
only chiropractic spinal manipulation for their back pain had reduced
overall costs of care, briefer episodes of back
pain, and lower costs of care per back pain episode. (3) Back
pain relief in a briefer time at less expense…a threefold
bonus for Manchester
back pain sufferers!
BACK PAIN CARE WITH CHIROPRACTIC
Like the rest of us, military personnel and veterans
get back pain and get relief
with chiropractic treatment. Chiropractic is well-integrated into
the VA system for veterans with low back pain and other musculoskeletal
conditions. A recently proposed study of chiropractic care in
Veterans Affairs healthcare facilities for low back pain sets out
to see if low dose (one to 5 visits) or higher dose (eight to twelve visits) chiropractic care for 10 weeks is most beneficial
for chronic low back pain relief. (4) (The Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain
Management found in a study of 1000 back pain
patients that 12 visits and 29 days were the mean number of visits and days to achieve
maximum improvement for such patients. (5))
A related finding was made when chiropractic care was inserted
into usual medical care for active-duty military personnel with low back pain. Moderate short-term improvement in back pain intensity and disability was reported.
Multidisciplinary care of back pain that incorporates
chiropractic is indicated as being beneficial. (6) The goal
of Manchester chiropractic for back pain sufferers – civilian and
military alike – is back pain relief. Manchester Chiropractic & Sports Injuries is prepared to provide
that!
